Listen to Skrillex on iHeartRadio | Listen to Avicii on iHeartRadio | Listen to Calvin Harris on iHeartRadio
Forbes has unveiled their yearly "30 Under 30" lists and on the music list this year, dance music is being represented by three powerful producers/DJs. Among the renowned pop stars and rappers like Adele, Lady Gaga, and Wiz Khalifa, we have three very big names in dance music. Skrillex, Avicii, and Calvin Harris were all under Forbes' radar this year, making their annual list.
Sonny Moore, you might better know him as Skrillex, has been a tremendous influence on the dance music industry, bringing forth and defining the genre dubstep in the community. Being that he is a Grammy-winner, has been nominated again this year, and raked in $15 million last year, the 24-year-old is doing very well for himself, certainly catching the attention of many.
Avicii is no stranger to Forbes, having made their "Inaugural Top Earning DJs' list this year due to his six-figure fees for live shows - no that's not a typo. Like Skrillex he's made it into the Top 10 of DJ Mag's "Top 100" list, and at only 23 years old, the young Swede has constantly been on tour over the last few years, while this year picking up a Grammy nomination for his anthem "Levels."
Calvin Harris is perhaps one the most prominent choices for Forbes' list. His successful cross over into the pop world has helped to open up dance music to new audiences. His most recent album 18 Months, addresses more than one genre of dance music, and showcases his award-winning producing abilities. And, let's face it - if you haven't heard his collab with Rihanna, "We Found Love," you've obviously been living under a rock. In outer space.
Just goes to show you age is only a number. Congratulations guys!
