(WENN) - Katy Perry's marriage to Russel Brand is officially over - their divorce was finalized on Monday.

Brand filed divorce papers in December citing "irreconcilable differences" just 14 months after their lavish wedding in India in October, 2010.

The couple had reached an amicable divorce settlement in February, but by California law, they had to wait six months for the union to be officially dissolved. Neither party issued a statement about the finalized divorce.

The pop star recently opened up about the painful split as part of her Katy Perry: Part Of Me documentary, revealing she was desperate to save the marriage but the couple's busy schedules made the relationship too difficult.

She said, "I'm a romantic and I believe in the whole fairy tale. Love is a dream but the reality is making it work. I did everything I could - but it still failed."
