I AM YOUR VOICE! WAT UP! Thanks for listening to my show every night on WILD949! I'll keep this short-I got into radio because i LOVE MUSIC! LOVE LOVE MUSIC. I used to remix songs and even had one of my remixes played on WILD949 BEFORE I was here. It was a remix called "Rydaz" for the Destiny Child's song "Soldier." During this same time I was going to CAL! Go Bears! Shout out to everyone at UCBerkeley! I then started looking up ways to be part of WILD94.9 and I heard there was an internship opening up. SO, I knew a girl in my class who was also interning for Clear Channel and she turned in my resume for me (Wassup Evelyn). I then kept hitting up the Promotions department to keep following up-and they finally got sick of me and gave me a chance to join their promotional team the "PARTY CREW."
Then a few months into my internship I started an entertainment report that focused on Bay happenings called "The Baydestrian Report" then after that, I migrated to other stations and then came back to WILD to do overnights which meant I was on the air from MIDNIGHT until 5am Mon-Fri. OK so i said I would make it short-so Ill skip to the juice...
I AM HERE NOW DOING THE NIGHT SHOW EVERY NIGHT FOR YOU! I always felt like I represented the streets-especially the girls who want to make a difference in this world. I do what I do every night for you. I told myself I wanted to be that person on the radio that everyone can relate to--and I hope I do you justice. I am the voice of the streets and I hope you rock with me forever and ever.
Here are some excerpts from his most recent interview with VH1:
On why he wrote “Bye Baby” and used Kelis’ wedding dress on his album cover:
I just wanted to do things that really have meaning, that have impact. And it just so happens, my life had been so public in the last couple of years that I felt that if everyone else wanted to tell my story and it wasn’t an accurate story, ‘Why not me tell the real story?’ And I wanted the album to show reality, love, pain, heartbreak, happiness, joy. All of the emotions of life. And there’s nothing more emotional that I could think of that’s been so recent in my life other than my divorce. In my VH1 thing (Behind the Music)…I told that story about the dress. And it just felt like the right thing to do for closure, for me.
On whether or not using Kelis’ dress on the album cover gave him closure:
I don’t know man. Certain things don’t go away so easily. The album cover made it fresh again to me in my mind, a little bit. I had to rethink things and stuff but its all good.
On the biggest lesson he learned from his divorce and what he’d do differently next time:
The biggest lesson I learned is respect…trust…no infidelity. I at some point got pissed off during the relationship and strayed. And I wouldn’t do that again. I would be all good.
On whether or not he told Kelis that he’d do things differently:
Yea. I told her. I told her that. I apologized. She apologized and we just move on. We live and we move on.
Oh my gosh I think I just fell in love with Nas all over again! How beautiful is this?!! I hope him and Kelis get back together, you can totally tell he's been missing her! He barely even looked up during the interview, his emotions for her are as clear as day. @MoniqueDee_
